Lily's Mind

      A colorful, curious, and deeply personal new art exhibition opens this July with The Creatures in My Mind, a collection of watercolor works that straddle the line between dream and reality, vulnerability and voyeurism.

Through an assembly of otherworldly humanoid figures, mythical creatures, and fantastical settings rendered in delicate yet vivid strokes, the artist invites viewers into a surreal psychological landscape—one shaped by imagination, introspection, and a search for solace through creative expression.

"These paintings come from somewhere between curiosity of the unknown and making sense of the past," the artist explains. "They are versions of myself and others—sometimes watching, sometimes being watched. Painting them is how I personally cope with my internal and external anxieties. It's how I make sense of everything I carry inside."

Each piece in The Creatures in My Mind offers a glimpse into this internal dialogue: soft, fluid forms that simultaneously soothe and unsettle. The figures are expressive but ambiguous, giving them a haunting familiarity—like characters from dreams half-remembered. The watercolor medium, which the artist favors, adds to the mystical ambiance of each piece, combining bright colors with washed out tones and miniscule detail.

The exhibition explores themes of identity, other dimensions, and the therapeutic process of making art. What begins as an intimate exploration of the artist's own inner turmoil unfolds into a shared emotional experience—one that resonates with anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed, isolated, or lost in a dream.

Lily also provides after school art classes for primary aged students. Her nine students from the Monday class, made up of 5th and 6th class students, will also be exhibiting their end of year pieces during Lily’s exhibition. The future is bright for this brilliant group of budding artists.
